Dr. Lugobe is a junior faculty member in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mbarara University of Science and Technology, the leading academic research institution in western Uganda. As a practicing physician at the Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital / Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Dr. Lugobe’s central focus is to improve the care of patients, particularly maternal and newborn outcomes in this resource-limited setting. His research interest is high risk obstetrics including hypertensive disorders in pregnancy as well as maternal and perinatal mortality audits to improve obstetric outcomes.
Dr. Lugobe’s long-term career goal is to become an independent academic researcher with expertise in developing, testing, and implementing innovative strategies to improve maternal and newborn outcomes. This will enable him to establish his position as a leader in the long- term cardiovascular health of postpartum mothers.
