The cervical cancer screening training took place at Silverback hotel from from 5th  December 2022 to 8th December 2022. The training was conducted by Dr Rogers Kajabwangu, Dr Byamukama Onesmus , Sr Alexcer Namuli (members of Obstetrics and Gyneacology department) plus Prof Thomas Randal (MGH). In their remarks, the Dean Faculty of Medicine and Head of Department Obstetrics and Gyneacology both encouraged the trainees to participate actively since cervical cancer is the number one cause of cancer-related deaths among women in Uganda.

There was a total of 36 trainees including second year residents of ObsGyn, finalist medical students of MUST and nurses from both MRRH and selected peripheral facilities.

These were trained in cervical cancer screening and treatment of pre-cancerous lesions of the cervix. The training included lectures, skills practice and clinical practice in the cervical cancer clinic of Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital.

The training was funded by the First mile project.
