The Faculty of Medicine with support from the First Mile Program has awarded two more seed grants each worth 5000 US dollars to young researchers in the Faculty. These were in addition to the four multidisciplinary groups research grants that were awarded recently. The seed grants are in line with the First Mile objective of “Powering the Academic Medical Center to Deliver Healthcare in the Community in Uganda”.
A call for submissions was put out to the Faculty and hospital staff with the following areas of interest; Community Health, Nursing, Emergency medicine, Intensive care, High-risk maternal care, Oncology, Palliative care and evaluating educational impact of First Mile scholarships within the Faculty of Medicine at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) or Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital (MRRH)
The principal investigators and projects that were awarded these grants are;
